Technologist (Programmer) - IPDS - Data Solutions

Location: Burnaby, British Columbia

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Developing, testing, and deploying of a new product tracking and traceability application
  2. Troubleshooting and modifying existing software applications used in our manufacturing facilities
  3. Providing data mining services to our internal customers (Operations, Product Development and R&D)
  4. Maintaining internal customer computer peripheral equipment
  5. Providing system support to technicians on the manufacturing plant floor
  6. Maintaining a support log of all technical faults
  7. Carrying out routine network maintenance tasks

Requirements:

  1. Degree/Diploma in Computer Science/Information Technology
  2. 3-5 Years of programming experience with Visual C#, Visual Basic, Transact-SQL (T-SQL)
  3. Basic knowledge of application development life cycle
  4. Understanding of Microsoft SQL Server (users, permission, backups, recovery, process monitoring)
  5. Strong SQL expertise and ability to create SQL reports using Microsoft SQL Server and Reporting Services
  6. Familiarity with computer hardware
  7. Customer focused
  8. Demonstrated ability to self-manage
  9. Demonstrated practical knowledge and problem-solving strategies
  10. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  11. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  12. Ability to adapt and learn new technologies quickly

  14. The following would be an asset:
  15. Knowledge of Wonderware’s suite of products (e.g. Historian, InTouch, InTrack, InBatch)

Electrical Technologist, Ballard Power Systems - Burnaby, BC Canada

Location: Burnaby, British Columbia

Responsibilities:

  1.  Assisting in the design and verification of electrical systems
  2. Selecting and sourcing electrical components
  3. Building prototype electrical systems, such as electrical control panels, instrumentation and control wiring and wire harnesses
  4. Verification of designs through analysis and testing
  5. Troubleshooting and failure analysis of electrical components and systems with DMM and oscilloscope
  6. Assisting in the preparation of technical documents, including test procedures, test reports, design specifications, and component/system design requirements

Qualifications:

  1. Technical diploma from an Electrical Engineering/Electronics/Mechatronics technologist program from a recognized technical college.
  2. 2 years’ experience in industry designing, drawing, analyzing analog & digital circuits and using prototyping methods is a requirement.
  3. Knowledge of electrical/electronic components and their characteristics, applications and limitations;
  4. Ability to read Process & Instrumentation Diagrams and to create Process & Instrumentation Diagrams
  5. Experience / proficiency in automation and machine communication and designing, drawing and analyzing low voltage electrical circuits and creation of I/O drawing; experience with PLCs and with instrumentation including pressure, temperature and flow measurement devices
  6. AutoCAD or similar drafting software and ability to use LabVIEW software
